Sera AI Writer: Content Creation Guide

Sera AI Writer is a complete editorial workflow tool built into WordPress. It includes a distraction-free editor, content pipeline, editorial calendar, AI writing coach, and team collaboration features. It requires Sera Core.

The Editor

The AI Writer editor (Sera > Writer > Editor) is a full-screen, distraction-free writing environment:

  • Clean interface: No WordPress admin chrome, just your content
  • Rich text formatting: Headings, bold, italic, lists, blockquotes, code blocks, tables
  • Inline AI assistance: Highlight text and ask the AI to rewrite, expand, summarize, or translate
  • Word count and reading time: Real-time statistics in the status bar
  • Auto-save: Content is saved automatically every 30 seconds
  • Version history: View and restore previous versions of your content

AI Writing Features

The AI can help you:

  • Generate outlines: Provide a topic and get a structured outline
  • Write drafts: Generate full paragraphs or sections from bullet points
  • Rewrite content: Select text and ask for a different tone, style, or reading level
  • Expand ideas: Turn a sentence into a full paragraph
  • Summarize: Condense long content into key points
  • Translate: Translate content between languages

Content Pipeline

The pipeline (Sera > Writer > Pipeline) is a visual Kanban board for managing content through stages:

Default Stages

  1. Idea: Content ideas and topics
  2. Research: Gathering information and sources
  3. Writing: Active drafting
  4. Editing: Review and revision
  5. Review: Final approval
  6. Published: Live on your site

Customization

  • Add, remove, or rename stages
  • Set stage colors and icons
  • Define required fields for each stage (e.g., "SEO title required before moving to Review")
  • Drag and drop content between stages

Editorial Calendar

The calendar (Sera > Writer > Calendar) provides a visual overview of your content schedule:

  • Month/week/day views: See your publishing schedule at a glance
  • Drag and drop: Reschedule content by dragging it to a new date
  • Color coding: Content is color-coded by status (draft, scheduled, published)
  • Filters: Filter by author, category, or content type

AI Writing Coach

The AI Coach provides real-time feedback as you write:

  • Readability score: Flesch-Kincaid grade level and reading ease
  • SEO suggestions: Keyword density, meta description, heading structure
  • Tone analysis: Detects the tone of your writing (formal, casual, technical)
  • Grammar and style: Catches common writing issues
  • Content length: Recommendations based on your target keyword and competition

Enable the AI Coach from the editor toolbar or Writer > Settings > AI Coach.

For multi-author sites:

  • Comments: Leave inline comments on specific paragraphs
  • @mentions: Tag team members in comments
  • Assignments: Assign content to specific authors or editors
  • Review workflow: Require approval before publishing
